Of course I did. What you've noted supports my conclusion, in fact. We need to slash our spending. We're doing stupid stuff like subsidizing most of our allies.

As for your statement that "Defense is part of the United States 'mission statement' - as per the Constitution." I'll just expand on what I said earlier: What we're doing with our military is about 2% defense and 98% offense. Show me where assaulting the world is part of our Constitutional obligation.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

De,
Did it ever occur to you that the reason many of those
countries do not spend nearly as much on 'defense' as
'We' do is because we do spend a LOT of money on it?
(And we have treaty obligations to help defend many
of them.)

Zim.

P.S. Defense spending and spending on Wars is not what
is bankrupting this country. Defense is part of the
United States 'mission statement' - as per the Constitution.

However, welfare in all its guises and with all its
various spending programs is NOT listed as a power or
responsibility of the federal government.

Welfare IS what is bankrupting the country.
