How did that happen? Do you think you forgot the password, you got hacked, or the file went corrupt?
I doubt you can get back in the way you're probably hoping unless you remember the password to your account or another account *OR* you have a backup that can be reinstalled. I'm assuming that those none of those is an option.
If you have a thumb drive with linux on it, you could boot your system on the thumb drive and add your laptop's drive to it as a secondary drive. Then you could read the hard drive and retrieve your critical files. As you might guess, that's pretty difficult if you've never tried it before.
Your laptop may have a recovery partition (usually D: ) that has a copy of the drive when you got it. If you elect to reinstall the operating system, it MIGHT keep your personal files. I've heard of people doing that before but haven't tried it myself. I'd call this a high risk option, but it will at least get your laptop working again. If you try it and want to have a chance of saving your data, do NOT format the C: drive.
This is a good reason to have a wife. I always create privileged accounts on my systems just for mine. She never uses them, but if I ever lose my access - for whatever reason - there's at least a chance that she'll be able to get on. So now you know: If you value your computer data, you should get married.
