I've posted questions for the board before and the responses have usually been good for a laugh. This one is serious. More serious, anyway. See, Chinese buffets are among my favorite types of restaurants. Until last year, I ate at them regularly, sometimes driving an hour or more to get to really good ones. They just about always have crispy little critters like the one shown below, battered, salted and deeply fried. Yes, I know that it's a shrimp. That doesn't much matter since my question is:

HOW DO YOU EAT THEM?

I'm being serious. I've asked my friends. I've asked my co-workers. I've even asked several waitresses at the restaurants serving them and always get the same amused but perplexed response, usually with some laughing and long explanations in Chinese, neither of which is any help. Once, I even spied on a bunch of restaurant employees sitting at a different table, apparently at lunch and eating buffet food. But, wouldn't you know it, they ate nothing but rice and fish ... the bastards. So, are we supposed to eat these shrimp whole? Do we peel them? Do we break off the heads and tails and eat the remainder? Do we break off the heads and peel what's left? Nobody seems to know. But, I swear, every Chinese buffet in the nation serves them and some part almost certain to be edible. The answer is out there.
