I thought he might want the AG's position when Sessions left. Apparently not, as here is a quote from his Twitter account. I don't know anything about twitter, but his comment about Bill Barr was gracious and sincere. Had Andrew McCarthy had any reservations about the incoming AG (if congress can agree to accept him; if it's another Kavanaugh charade, blecckk) then I would not have the same confidence. I do follow him. YOU HAVE MET HIM! I figured if anyone had, it would be you. He was on Shannon Bream last night. He is my hero.

do not see how POTUS could have made a better choice than Bill Barr for AG. He is simply excellent - supremely qualified, confident, smart, steeped in the honorable traditions of DOJ, and an all around good guy. He can right the ship and navigate through the storms.

Everyone was hoping for Trey Gowdy. but he was absolutely not interested. Quite honestly, he was my first choice, Andy McCarthy was second and this Bill Barr is pretty much unfamiliar to me. THAT won't last long, as I intend to do a little research.

Here's the statement from Trey Gowdy as of 3 weeks ago:

Amid AG rumors, Gowdy says he’s still ‘heading to South Carolina’ - (can't blame him, as it is a beautiful state, and he will finally be happy after serving in Congress)

WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy downplayed speculation Wednesday that he could be the next attorney general, saying he would be willing to take a call from President Donald Trump but still plans to leave national politics.

“I think the capital is not in South Carolina, and I’m heading to South Carolina,” said Gowdy, R-Spartanburg, who announced his decision in January to leave Congress.

Several of Gowdy’s allies on Capitol Hill, including U.S. Sens. Tim Scott and Lindsey Graham from his home state of South Carolina, have recently suggested he would be a good choice for Trump’s next top law enforcement official after Jeff Sessions was forced out last week.

Gowdy said he would at least be willing to hear out the president if he were contacted. The two have still never met or spoken before.

“Anytime a president calls and asks you to talk to him, the answer is ‘yes,’ ” Gowdy said. “It was true of President Obama, it would be true of President Trump.”

For most of his final term in office, Gowdy has chaired the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. That position, as well as his role on the Intelligence Committee, has at times put him in conflict with Trump, such as in July, when he said the president needed to stop suggesting that Russia didn’t attempt to interfere in the 2016 election.
--------------

I had seen an interview with him in the last few months, but not as recently as 3 weeks ago, and he was emphatic about NOT taking the AG position even if he were asked. Major disappointment, and then Andy not being considered, took my breath away.

Sure do miss you, Linda. Your posts were always so very interesting. Now, you are no longer in the City, so do you still attend as many meetings as you used to? Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving with your cousins, I assume. I still think of your Mom.
Take care!

Kathy, thanks, nice to see you, too.

I dropped by to say I saw somewhere the other day why we have a heroin epidemic. The farmers in S. America say they were forced to grow heroin because we legalized pot. But what do the potheads care. We're doomed with this bunch of useless idiots. We won't get into the wall and MS-13!

Yes, I have been in meetings with Andy multiple times over the years. He's a terrific person, brilliant and really down to earth. We're very lucky to have him. I wish he were AG. Don't know if he's being considered or whether he'd be interested, but I think he'd be great and it's a time when he or a clone is needed.

Upheaval could come from various sources. There's the Soros-Clinton-Obama-etc cabal, which seems less likely, since many normal people are bailing out of the Democratic party; China/Russia/NK economic/cyber warfare; or Islam. As for the latter, ISIS put out the word to attack on 1/1. Whether that happens or not, we'll find out. Doesn't sound like zero hour, though, more personal jihad - guns and knives and cars. Pays to be careful regardless of whether the Muslims will pick up on it . . .

Nice chatting, sorry I can't spend more time . . .
