I'd be interested in them.
My brother-in-law was over New Years day, and he expressed
appreciation to some shelf brackets I had made.

We were refurbishing some equipment at work (actually
the vendors was doing most of the work, we was helping
them some) and I saw a bunch of used bearings in the
scrap barrel. So I snagged six of them, some flat
stock, and made two shelf brackets. (I got one of
the Machinists to weld it up for me . . . I shoulda
got my buddy on the night side - he would have done a
much prettier job.)

That is a two by eight board it is holding up.

Re: “THINK about that welder though. There is more to welding and welding equipment than just price.... you will get what you pay for...”

I decided against buying that welder. There were several reasons.

► You guys had previously recommended that I start with acetyline. Given that I don't know much about welding, I'm inclined to follow your advice.

► I should get some training before I start buying equipment. Otherwise, it could turn out like the bullet reloading equipment I bought long ago, where I *never* used it because I didn't have everything I needed and lacked guidance.

► I have a couple of projects in mind right now, but I'm not yet ready to tackle them. So buying is premature.

► I couldn't figure out the brand of inverter arc welder that was being sold. With a little research, I found others being sold between $69 and $900, so I conclude that the unit being sold might not be a great deal.

► I attempted to contact the seller and, although Facebook said he saw the message almost immediately (at 4:30 am EST!) he didn't reply. What sort of a person is up at 4:30 am? (Besides me, I mean.) The combination of his seeing the message quickly and not responding makes me think he is more likely in Guatemala City (which is a later time zone) than in Fairfax, Virginia. (Though his Facebook page has a bald eagle in flight as its cover photo.)

I'll post about some of the projects I have in mind a little later. They'd involve welding of light materials, though. I'm not going to be working with heavy steel I-beams or car engines (hmm, that's not totally correct due to the Faraday Cage project we once discussed.) Not if I can help it.
