Zimbler's advice to try a different keyboard is meritorious as well. I've had a key go out before so that it was almost impossible to type my password. When that happens, you may not know (since you can't see the password). A USB keyboard will get around the problem.
The CAPS LOCK / NUM LOCK issue is probably the #1 reason people who know their password can't log on. Make sure you haven't made that mistake.
