Hells bells - MicroSnot, Apple, Adobe have been doing that FOR YEARS. You don't ever own any of the software you purchase, you only have a 'license to use', usually on one machine only, and that you are NOT allowed to transfer to another machine (as in you buy a new a computer - and don't want to pay AGAIN for the operating system you already purchased.
The 'updates' via 'internet releases' are how they 'check' that you haven't violated that license by moving it to a new machine.
Can you imagine buying a license for a 1/2-9/16" box wrench and ONLY being allowed to use it one car ?
Hyup - that and 'cloud computing' are two of the biggest rackets around.
