...it is my understanding that all the local operating companies are trying to get out of the "copper" bidness. Landlines are too expensive to install and maintain and they prefer to have satellite or cellphone type networks as they can have all their maintenance people in some shithole where no one can understand your problem and no one is responsible for fixing it. When this is done the bottom is gonna fall out of copper unless they make a shitload of pennies. I wonder if we could get away with paying welfare benefits in pennies
