ABSO-Frickin'-LUTELY, Linda! Just because someone has the freedom to make a statement doesn't mean that others do not have the very equal right to despise their statement for being deceitful and/or vile. Of course, this is exactly what the leftists try to do via political correctness - the leftists make a pronouncement that is highly speculative ... if not downright false ... and then use political correctness in an attempt to "shame" others into silence about the shortcomings of their benighted pronouncement and even try to force them to agree with it.

Doesn't mean I can't think of those flag burners as the dregs of society. Free speech!

Of course the left wants free speech to be a one-way street.
