I had a friend who used to work for Texas Instruments when it had a plant down in El Salvador. When he was down there, he received additional salary that was considered "combat pay." He said, when you were driving, you never knew when you might turn a corner right into a riot. He had a good friend of his who always carried an Uzi in his car. If he got jammed up in a riot, he would roll his driver's side window down a ways, stick the barrel of his Uzi pointed up through the opening, and let off a burst. He said it never failed to provide an instantaneous "parting of the Red Sea."
