Thus: 1 lb carbon yeilds 1* (44/12) = 3.6 lbs. of CO2
If, and only if, gasoline were 100% octane - percent of Carbon per gallon of gas is derived from:
octane is C8H18 MW of C=96, H=18 total=114)
then:
6.2 lbs of gas = 6.2* (96/114) == 5.221 lbs of C
5.221 lbs of C yields => 5.221 * (44/12) = 19.14 lbs of CO2
With 100% combustion efficiency (ie. no CO produced), which, of course, never happens.
