A vacuum test COULD have revealed that. Not familiar with your chariot; some intake manifolds have coolant running thru them .... so possible source of leak. Uncommon.

Bad/leaking intake gaskets usually result in very poor performance, especially rough idling.

My wife tells me I mis-heard her. It's not a bad intake valve, it's a bad lower intake manifold gasket. It's a $25 part, but apparently a bear to replace.
