Agreed, Linda - I do NOT support a flat tax. My issue is with the UNConstitutionality of unequal treatment based on 'what the government' decides to promote.
Why can't I, as a sole proprietor, deduct 100% of my 'medical insurance' AND 'medical expenses' from my gross wages. A corporation sure as hell does that for 100% of it's employees.
Why is 'Insurance' deductible - when 'medical expenses' are not ? Medical costs would PLUMMET in the absence of insurance, which is absolutely no more than 'legalized bookmaking', and actuarials are nothing but glorified oddsmakers. Why are 'INSURANCE' companies preferable over cold hard cash payments to medical providers ?
You know why. It is the UNHOLY TRINITY of big government, big business, and big money. All three collude in tandem, and promote each other - TO OUR DETRIMENT.
Just a couple of examples, Linda. I could go through the entire tax code and show how it absolutely violates the 14th amendment - which is SUPPOSED to guarantee EQUAL treatment under the law, no matter who (or what) we are. There is no exception for 'what the government considers to be preferable.'
Back to the 'people who can not afford 10%' .... Well - they are ALREADY paying more than 15% in Federal Taxes on their income. The BS that 'SS etc' are half paid by the employer is just that, BS - as I've expounded many times in the past .... AND the BS that 'SS etc' are NOT an income tax is just that, also, pure BS.
IT ALL GOES INTO THE GENERAL FUND AND NOTHING IS SET ASIDE.
At one time (in the past couple of decades) - 50% of the 'revenue from income' came from 'SS etc' - so the argument that 50-60% of 'Americans' pay NO TAXES is not only laughable, it is an extremely DISHONEST 'factoid' (ie. a fact without substance, proper definition.). I am not sure what the percentage of revenue it still is, any longer, but am positive it is still a very significant number.
