No, Reuters got that wrong. It was not the cyber attacks that embarrassed the Democrats. It was the content of the Democrat servers that embarrassed the Democrats.

It might sound like I'm nit-picking, but it's rather like a priest saying that he's embarrassed that his wallet was stolen when, in reality, he's embarrassed by the pictures of nude children that were found inside when it was recovered.

Today President-elect Trump was briefed by the Intelligence Community on their official findings into the “Russian hacking” story. This is his official statement:

President-elect Donald Trump said he had a “constructive” meeting with members of U.S. intelligence agencies on Friday and plans to appoint a team to give him a plan to combat cyber attacks within 90 days of taking office on Jan. 20.

“While Russia, China, other countries, outside groups and people are consistently trying to break through the cyber infrastructure of our governmental institutions, businesses and organizations including the Democrat National Committee, there was absolutely no effect on the outcome of the election including the fact that there was no tampering whatsoever with voting machines,” Trump said in a statement after the briefing from spy chiefs who have accused Russia of hacking to interfere in the 2016 U.S. election.

Russia denies the allegations.

REUTERS IS REPORTING:

Trump Says Hacking Did Not Effect Election Outcome
“The methods, tools, and tactics we use to keep America safe should not be a public discussion that will benefit those who seek to do us harm.” – President-elect Donald Trump

As you can see President-elect Trump was briefed today, and he now knows, as we all do, that Russia, according to the Intelligence report, directed the cyber attacks which embarrassed the Democrats. However, it must be stressed that no attack or interference occurred within the voting machines or in the Election. This must be stressed. President-elect Trump will become President Trump on January 20, 2016.

The public has questioned and debated the “Russian hacking” story for some weeks now. We now will follow the lead of our President-elect as we begin to discuss the findings within the Intelligence report.

It is most probable that the Obama White House leaked the findings of this report to NBC before President-elect Trump was able to be briefed. He is very upset about this leaking, and he vows to keep intelligence findings from being leaked in his Administration.

We must be very aware of the hard work of the men and women in the Intelligence Community, and I am sure that they are very appreciative that Trump intends to help them in their efforts by restructuring the Intelligence machine during his first 90 days of being President.

The below is an excellent explanation of this breaking story, and I would like to offer it to the IWB readers for further reading:

The same day that a classified 50-page intelligence report was delivered to President Obama on alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, its findings were immediately leaked to the Washington Post by “U.S. officials” – probably senior Obama officials at the National Security Council. Making this worse, the leakers may have compromised sensitive intelligence sources and methods by revealing that the report was based on intercepted communications.

According to the Post story, the classified intelligence report says senior officials in the Russian government celebrated Donald Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton as a geopolitical win for Moscow. So-called “actors” involved in providing Democratic emails to WikiLeaks reportedly are identified. The report also is said to discuss “disparities in the levels of effort Russian intelligence entities devoted to penetrating and exploiting sensitive information stored on Democratic and Republican campaign networks.”

After the Washington Post story was posted online, a senior U.S. intelligence official discussed the classified report with NBC News. The intelligence official agreed to talk to NBC because he or she disagreed with the focus of the Post story and believes the Post overemphasized alleged Russian celebration of Trump’s win and did not focus on the thrust of the report.

WASHINGTON – Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an effort to help Republican Donald Trump’s electoral chances by discrediting Democrat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential campaign, U.S. intelligence agencies said in an assessment on Friday.
Russia’s objectives were to undermine public faith in the U.S. democratic process, denigrate former secretary of state Clinton, make it harder for her to win and harm her presidency if she did, an unclassified report released by the top U.S. intelligence agency said.
“We assess Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the US presidential election,” the report said. “We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump. We have high confidence in these judgments.”
The agencies believe Russian military intelligence used intermediaries such as WikiLeaks, DCLeaks.com and the Guccifer 2.0 personal to release emails that it had acquired from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and top Democrats as part of the effort. It said the operation went for “targets associated with both major US political parties.”
