I work close to a large airport. How close? Okay, looking out my window right now, I see the first photo, below. (It's a crappy camera or I'd also draw arrows pointing to the tails of two jets that are poking up.)

Consequently, I see contrails pretty frequently. How frequently? Well, still looking out my window, I see the second photo, below.

Take my word for it. I've seen a lot of contrails.

A couple of days ago as I left work, I saw something that made me think of you. You remember the "chem-trail eating UFO" story you posted on 12-29-2016? In the story, the author wrote: 

the object stopped in front of the chemtrail, and slowly destroyed it. indeed, the trail was being “consumed” progressively. i was simply speechless. i still can’t believe what i caught. the chemtrail got literally perforated! i can’t be 100% sure it’s due to the object itself, but i’m sure there’s a link between it and the chemtrail. such a huge trail can’t just disappear like that, for no reason! and only a small portion of the trail gets erased, justly around the object! 

What *I* saw on Wednesday was the path a jetliner had taken across a partially clouded sky. It had NOT left a contrail. But where its path intersected a cloud, the cloud parted as if it had been cut by a knife. I literally saw cloud to the left, cloud to the right, and blue sky in the middle in a line that a ruler could have drawn. In the time it took me to walk to my car, the blue line grew from razor thin to fairly wide. I regretted not having a decent camera, but you've seen the poor quality of my cheap phone's pictures. Pictures from my phone wouldn't have been of any value.

So, less than a week after the UFO story, I saw an airplane do the same thing to an actual cloud.

It's not too surprising. Clouds are formed by drops in pressure, reducing the air's ability to hold dissolved water and forcing it to condense into a cloud. They also disappear when hit by high pressure air which can hold MORE water vapor. Plane wings create high pressure below and low pressure above. High pressure below and low pressure above produce lift. Wings are one of the main causes of contrail formation (in the lowered pressure area above the wing.)

Below the wing? Higher pressure, which can actually make an entire cloud disappear if it is thin enough. It's no wonder that something flying over a contrail can "consume" the contrail. It doesn't take advanced technology to do that, just high pressure.

I have no explanation for the black contrails you posted about today. But, then, I've never seen one so I don't even know if they're real. If they are, I'd assume they're caused by the plane's exhaust. I've readd that diesel-burning planes can really pump out the smog. Maybe it's sometimes black, just like diesel truck exhaust.
