Too bad, zz. You were actually right . . . at first. Americans DO run in herds. You should have stopped there.
It's not just the Republicans, as you imply. It's both sides. Republicans push the propaganda mouthed and widely distributed by Limbaugh, Trump, Savage, Ryan, McConnell, Levin, Coulter, Fox News and Breitbart; Democrats push the propaganda mouthed and widely spread by the Clintons, Obama, Sanders, Reid, Bezos, Buffett, Gates, Lynch, Streisand, Cher, Pelosi, Soros, the mainstream media and HuffingtonPost.
There are two different agendas and MOST (but not all) of the folks I've listed above are pushers of one agenda or the other. Americans who repeat their thoughts are, indeed, running in a herd. They're deluded. You haven't figured this out because . . . SURPRISE! You're among the deluded.
Don't feel bad. With respect to your being delusional, you're in the majority. Almost everyone thinks that the other side is unwilling to think and can't bring themselves to question their own status. Being in the majority on that particular issue isn't nearly so good as winning the Presidency or anything, but at least it can provide you a little comfort as you pat one another on the back, telling yourselves how much wiser you followers are than the other side's followers, and that they're just . . . a herd.
Which is exactly what your post proceeded to do.
