re: "Any suggestions?"

The problem is called WINTER. In cold weather, oil thickens and doesn't do its job.

Bring your lawnmower indoors for 12 hours or so, then take it outdoors and give it a whirl. If it starts then the problem is with the viscosity. Change out the oil for SAE 10W-30 or just give up on using the mower until Spring.

You could always get an electric mower. Or a goat.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

Seems I was using my lawnmower to slice and dice the
leaves, and stuff them into the catcher bag.

Worked very well. Till my lawnmower quit.

It's like it starts up when I pull the rope . . .
runs for about a second then dies again.

I tried replacing the air filter and the spark plug
and I added some stuff to the gas that is supposed
to help clean the carburetor, remove any water, etc. etc.

No help.

I also found it was low on oil, so I added enough to get it up on the stick. Still won't keep running.

Any suggestions?
(Other than time to buy a new mower - come spring when the grass starts growing again.)

Zim.
