All the things he was scared to do because of the problems it would cause while he was in office, he's doing here at the end.
Some of this can probably be reversed once Trump is President. Not the pardons and commutations he's granting, but undoubtedly things like this.
BTW, I'm usually opposed to amending the Constitution, but a restriction on the pardoning power is obviously needed to prevent its abuse. Perhaps 'The President can recommend pardons OF THOSE CONVICTED IN FEDERAL COURTS, but the House must approve them.' And no more of what Gerald Ford did - pardoning Nixon for unspecified crimes.
I have this sickening feeling that before he leaves office, Obama is going to issue a mass-pardon of all prisoners convicted of non-violent drug (and perhaps other) crimes. Hopefully such an edict would be declared unconstitutional, but I bet he's thinking about it. What he's doing is bad enough - already more pardons and commutations than any previous President and more than the previous eleven combined. Look for some high profile pardons before the end.
