You is 'ZACTLY on the mark about SPRAYING LEAD.
If it don;t hit the target, it don't count... Ya still has an enemy who is firing back at you. ONLY way to make that stop is to HIT THE TARGET..

Weapons available to civilians are no match for what is available to the military. That is a NON-CONTEST from the get go.

Anyway, just my two cents worth...

...I know they won't. I was just sayin that assault weapons have not been used much to change the political landscape at the top. Simple effective weapons prevail. You may be able to get a machine gun that fires as many bullets per min as the ones the gubmint has, but you will run out of ammunition before they do. It's not how many bullets you shoot or how much noise you make, it's how many times you hit the target that matters. The forces of tyranny have a lot of resources. They are backed up by people who want to control your every thought. (for your own good of course)
