That's a plan. Good idea.

How about the way I do it?

I always pay myself into a car fund even when I do not have a car payment to make. Call it a continual car payment but at something reasonable. This way when I need another vehicle, we have plenty of money to go get one and may only take a year to pay it off if that.

Learned that trick almost 40 years ago from older neighbors, like DGP ya know? lol!!! That was how they did it and we asked how they could always drive newer model cars. They told us. They always budgeted for a car payment and make it every month to themselves....

If you are going to need a car before
long save for a year about half of the
cost. Then borrow the other half from
your bank on a one year loan.
