Oh, cool! An opportunity for the Triple Farters to bash some more good people.
I'm not sure what the characteristics of a good Secretary of State are. I know what they SHOULDN'T be (HRC's characteristics), but do we want someone who is charismatic, smart, honest and easy to talk to? Someone who, like Trump, has a strong business background and proven organizational skills? In that case, I still think Mitt Romney would be a very good choice.
Trouble is, Romney stuck his nose someplace it never belonged and was an outspoken cricic of Trump's long after Trump had the Republican nomination. *I* think Romney believed - as did most of us - that Trump would probably lose the election and leave a huge opportunity in 2020, an opportunity that Romney would again capitalize upon. Unbridled ambition, that's Romney's failing.
So, do we want someone who isn't a RINO? Who supported Trump? Who has military experience? Diplomatic experience? Again, I'm not sure what the priorities should be, but if those things are what we need, then Romney is a poor choice.

State Department list may grow, Pence says

Donald Trump is expanding his short list for secretary of state, Vice President-elect Mike Pence suggested Sunday.
The president-elect’s transition team last week identified former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker and former CIA Director David Petraeus as the top four contenders.
But Pence hinted in an interview with host Chuck Todd on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” that the list will grow.
“With regard to secretary of state, we’ve been winnowing the list. But it might grow a little bit,” he said. “I think to talk to the president-elect is to know he’s simply looking for the best men and women to advance the agenda that we know will make America great again.”
Asked what it is about the current field that has prompted Trump to broaden his search, Pence argued that expanding the short list isn’t a reflection of the field.
“I think everyone that he’s talked to and has been talked about, whether it be Rudy Giuliani or Mitt Romney or Gen. Petraeus or Sen. Corker, John Bolton and others, bring extraordinary background and qualities to this,” Pence said.
“But I think you're going to see the president-elect continue that process, to ensure that as he has a vision for really reengaging the world with an America-first agenda, advancing America’s interests in the world economically and diplomatically that he’s going to make sure that he has the right person in that role just like he is in every role.”
