Food prices, like everything else, are
based on what people will pay. That is
why farmers have their kids do part of
the work and why more and more are
going out of business.

p40,

re: "Plus, who's going to do the work for the farmers, like pick fruit from trees, etc. ... It sure ain't going to be us white people or the blacks, etc."

Now why do you say that? Is there ANY other line of work white people and blacks won't do? They both pick up garbage. They both empty septic tanks and deal with spills. They both dig minerals out of deep, dank mines.

So it's NONSENSE that whites and blacks won't pick fruit. Of course they will. There isn't any work that people won't do.

Then you get to the heart of the matter - that farmers will have to pay their laborers more. Okay, so they have to pay whites and blacks more. That's fine. I'm not sure that it's true, but it's fine if it is. I don't believe in regulated pricing on anything else, p40, and I don't object to food prices fairly reflecting the higher cost of labor. Food prices should be what they ought to be. Not a penny higher; not a penny lower.
