Here, I think everyone would agree that people aren't banned if they're contributing... even if their contribution is in the form of dissent. Rudeness gets people banned. In at least one case, I think a ban was imposed in retaliation. I disagreed with that one, but a bug that even Bob hasn't been able to fix keeps us from reversing the ban.
In any case, rest assured that we wouldn't ban a person for having Trump's views. In fact, I'd enjoy the discourse since I'm always seeking truth.
Now, contrast that with MY ban on Triple-Fart:
â–º I'm the one who argued that George Zimmerman acted in self-defense and should be considered innocent unless more evidence came in. The jury agreed with me. I was right.
â–º I'm the one who pointed out that Dominique Strauss-Kahn was probably innocent of rape and should definitely be treated that way until the evidence showed otherwise. After the maid dropped her charges, it was clear that I was right.
â–º I'm the one who found a Catholic priest on the internet who directly criticized OCU's support for abortion candidates and further stated that such a Catholic would likely go to Hell for it. I'd been telling OCU as much for years . . . and I was right.
â–º I'm the one who discovered that clo is a liberal because she was unable to abort her first child and held that against her son and against conservatives. She gotten knocked up, dropped out of high school when she was 15, became an alcoholic, never could not find love or a job but still managed to acquire a nice house by divorcing two . . . no, THREE men who were foolish enough to think that her looks made up for her personality. And I was right. I'm also right that she passed her ways on to her children, who are also societal leeches, divorced and (in at least her older son's case though clo might actually not know this) alcoholics. Right, right and right.
â–º I pointed out that global warming was nonsense way back in 2005. Ten years later, not only is NYC not underwater, there hasn't been ANY noticeable change in ocean levels. Right again.
â–º I'm the one who pointed out how stupid the New York Times was to be publishing an article about global warming which described the terrible flooding an advancing ocean is causing for a North Carolina town. Uh... if the ocean is rising for one coastal town, it should be rising ALL coastal towns! Duh. Nobody on clo's board understood this. (It turns out that the town the Times was describing has been measurably SINKING for quite a while. And unless the Times wants to attribute that to Global Warming, their entire premise is false.) Again, I was right.
â–º I pointed out all these things and countless others. I was almost always correct. I was almost always polite. But when I posted a list that included several dozen unanswered questions that leftists hadn't been able to answer about global warming, it was the last straw for clo. I was banned.
I violated no board policies. clo said she'd banned me for "being obnoxious."
You, of course, are obnoxious every time you post. You've been banned once or twice (not recently), but always temporarily. My ban? Permanent.
And that's the difference between your board and ours. We don't ban casually and we don't ban due to dissent.
