Yes, but the key here is that the product was used illegally in the commission of a crime. If a gun (or car) malfunctions when it reasonably should not have, I'm okay with suing the manufacturer. If a contractor hooks up a heater for me and it leaks causing someone to die, I'm suing him.
But the gun in the Sandy Hook murders did not malfunction. The fault lay entirely with the killer.
