That's why Senior communities are so popular. Lots of retired folks with similar situations and backgrounds. It's much easier to find new friends and things to do.
I'm going a different way, of course. I don't know if I'll be able to make close friends in NH or not - it's such an isolated area. During the winter, I'm not sure anyone is going to want to go anywhere unless they have to. I wish there was some chance that my son would settle in NH after he gets his college degree, but that doesn't seem very realistic. There aren't many jobs for new graduates in rural towns.
My wife will be with me, though. We aren't yet sure whether we'll have internet at home. If we do, that counts for a lot. I think of you guys as friends, even though we've never met. If I have internet and nobody kicks the bucket, we'll still be in touch.
