The answer must be to give up on Windows and move to linux.
The trouble is, there are lots of little "gotchas" there too. The better applications are for Windows. The standards assume Windows. The websites assume Windows.
But at least linux hardly ever changes. Once you learn it, you can count on it continuing to work until you're old and gray. (In the case of some of you, make that 'until your grandkids are old and gray.')
Given that I'm finding it increasingly difficult to remember how do things on computers due to ALL the different versions of operating systems and suites I've used, some stability would be really nice.
Linux also has power that Windows users don't even dream of. Microsoft has dumbed down computers over the last 30 years in hopes of drawing in greater quantities of people. Linux gives us back that power.
Given that I was running SCO unix back in 1985 and know full well what it can do, I have to wonder why I'm even debating it. It's an obvious thing to do, especially now that Windows is infested with spyware. Time to change.
