...10,000 is a conservative guess. I figured more like 100,000 or so. Maybe a million. There's lots of good boys who dindu nuffens in there.

The article says Bonzo has now shortened the sentences of 562 federal inmates. Any guesses what his tally will be when he leaves office?

I'll get the ball rolling on that by saying TEN THOUSAND.

President Obama announced commutations of 214 federal inmates, nearly all of whom were locked up for nonviolent crimes

Adam Edelman
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

President Obama on Wednesday announced he had commuted the sentences of another 214 federal inmates, nearly all of whom were locked up on drug offenses, continuing the White House’s attempt to redefine the criminal justice system’s approach in dealing with nonviolent drug crimes.

“All of the individuals receiving commutation today — incarcerated under outdated and unduly harsh sentencing laws — embody the president’s belief that ‘America is a nation of second chances,”’ White House counsel Neil Eggleston wrote in a blog post.

The massive number of cuts to the sentences, which included reductions for 67 life sentences, amounted to the greatest number of commutations granted in a single day in more than 100 years and surpassed the number of commutations announced by the previous nine presidents combined.

The announcement adds to the number of commutations already announced by the Obama, who has repeatedly spoken out about the unfairness and ineffectiveness of the nation’s antiquated, overly harsh sentencing laws for drug crimes, and brings the total number of sentences the President has shortened over his tenure in office to 562.

Most of the inmates who had their sentences commuted Wednesday will be released Dec. 1, the White House said, which added that even more commutations are likely during Obama’s final months in office.

Among those affected by Wednesday's announcement are New Yorkers:

Dewayne Comer, of Syracuse, who was sentenced to life in prison in 1997 for a variety of cocaine-related charges.
Dawan Croskery, of Buffalo, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2004 for money laundering and criminal enterprise charges.
Maynard Dennis, of Liverpool, N.Y., who was sentenced to 25 years in prison in 2005 for cocaine-related charges.
Ronald Evans, of New York City, who was sentenced to more than 22 years in prison in 2003 for cocaine-related charges.
Raymond Fox, of New York City, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2005 for cocaine-related charges.
Michael Moore, of Mount Vernon, N.Y., who was sentenced to 30 years in prison in 1998 for cocaine-related charges.
Kenneth Junior Smith, of Brooklyn, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 1999 for cocaine-related charges.
Terrence Upshaw, of Yonkers, who was sentenced to life in prison in 1998 for cocaine-related charges.
