Considering that government is all about using power to force things to happen, why should ANYBODY trust it?
Besides, government isn't a thinking creature to be trusted or distrusted. The question is really, do we trust government-empowered OFFICIALS? It is obvious, to me at least, that we should not. They're sort of like slave owners, some of whom may be better than others, but none of whom are GOOD.
