walking through airports in my uniform and being called a baby killer. Saigon had fallen, but the wounds of that war were still very raw - and for many like me, STILL TODAY. That war, combined with the anger which finally spawned the civil rights movement (how the hell could our country let minorities suffer for so long is beyond me!) and the general free spirit of the sixties, formed the civic foundation of today.
9/11, for a short time, made us one nation. However, fifteen years removed, the Kardashians, rampant faux victimisation, and bathroom wars rule the day. I have just about stopped watching TV because it's too damn depressing. We are back to being the nation of "me".
BTW, I saw Charlie Daniels last Friday. The show was therapeutic! Next up should be Hank Jr. I recommend you book a show ASAP!
