That reminds me of one time while I was in the Army
in Alaska. It was wintertime, and I told the Sarge
I was going out for some PT (Physical Training).
I stepped out of the barracks and put on my cross
country skis and took off. As I was skiing up to a
training hill titled 'sand hill' I came across a bunch
of clowns from down south trying to make their way up
the hill (on skis). A few of them were herring
boning up the slope . . some were side stepping up the
slope. Over half of them were taking off their skis
and carrying them back up the slope.
I had waxed my skies for cross country work before I
put them on. I skied up to the base of the hill.
Walked straight up it, skied across the top and on down
the other side. I know I frosted a bunch of them.
It was great.
By the way, these were U.S. Army issue skis. Almost
eight feet long and near six inches wide. They could
carry an infantry man with eighty pounds of gear on his
back. Faster than said dude could walk. (If he knew
what he was doing.)
micro, when I was in high school, my buddy
and I did a lot of shooting. When we were
around guys sighting in their deer rifle,
as they would leave one of us would use a
pistol to shoot the beer bottles they had
shoot at. We would be several feet farther
away. We got lots of bad looks from them. (:-)
