Not a typical shooting. Mainak Sarkar is an Indian (from India) with a Ph.D. in solid mechanics. The shooting was apparently over Sarkar's claim that Klug had stolen his code.
I don't know why he also killed a woman in Minnesota. I doubt she had anything to do with his code. He also was targeting a second professor, according to his "kill list."
No doubt, he had a screw loose. But this isn't your typical shooting. For all I know, maybe he really had been ripped off.

during an interview on KTLA. A second
UCLA professor was on that list as well,
