Yes, I see and agree with you.
Except I think if we did the Keystone pipeline and tapped our own resources we could easily thumb our noses at the Saudis. I prefer to be energy independent.
That said, being a policeman has nothing to do with CHASTISING some country for dreaming they can do something to an American citizen and not suffer huge consequences.
Aren't we glad that many other nation's stayed out of our affairs when we were trying to overthrow the Tyrannical government of our parent, Great Britain and King George 3 ? SO glad Spain for example or some other nation did not decide that they did not want these upstart colonists rocking the boat because it may have hurt their trade relationship with mother England.
Some problems in the world are simply regional or national and we do not need to interject ourselves into some other nation's internal struggles for whatever it is.
As far as stopping genocide, yes I agree we cannot idly stand by.
BUT I am sick of US paying ALL the costs to keep up such a LARGE MILITARY at the taxpayer's expense to protect everyone else. Let THEM help pay this cost as it benefits them more directly than US...
That's where I am coming from Zim. DO I think we belonged in Vietnam? Not necessarily. Did I go? Yes.
What happened after our politicians mishandled a war that easily could have been won? MILLIONS of South Vietnamese teachers and professionals were murdered in the killing fields by the Communists.
Had our soldiers arms not been tied behind our backs and we were allowed to have our military commanders actually PLAN a course of action designed to win, we would easily have beaten back the North Vietnamese.
Just like Iraq where Hussein slaughtered and tortured his own people and used WMD's against innocent civilians like the Kurds.
Why do we do things only half way and never play to win ????? I do not know.... My rank was not high enough to know or even say anything other than yes sir.
I think we are on the same page with possibly some minor difference in details....
Thanks for your thoughts Zim!!! Appreciated....
