My son just landed a performing arts scholarship to a month-long summer program run by Virginia and the University of Radford! He's one of 200 students throughout the state invited each year to participate in the categories of instrumental music, dance, vocal music, visual arts and acting. All expenses are paid.
Joey auditioned and was interviewed in January, but auditions continued throughout the state over the next three months. He sang two pieces, one of which was an operatic aria that had the judges asking afterward if he actually spoke Italian! (He doesn't, but he has an aptitude for language.) He said that one judge's expression when he hit his sweet spot told him immediately that he might have made it. #ProudDad...
