I think they'd also be stunned to know that Congress tasks the Fed with printing up money which it then lends to the United States AND CHARGES INTEREST ON.
Folks should use their noggins. Why would anyone who profits by printing money want to do anything else??
The Fed's goal is to maximize monetary inflation while minimizing monetary inflation expectations. Memorize and ponder on that . . . and nothing the Federal Reserve does will ever totally surprise you.
