...the change in styles is somewhat due to environmental regulations requiring greater gas mileage or lower emissions. The most cost effective way is to reduce the weight of the vehicle. That means where ya used to have steel ya have plastic. The things they call BUMPERS these days can be damaged by a swift kick by a small child. Vehicle costs more, insurance costs more, but we is saving the world from global whateveritisthisweek.

Has anyone else ever wondered like I do sometimes WHY is it that a car company cannot or does not just MAKE the same car a few years in a row and just make a refinement or tweak to something? THink of the tooling SAVINGS alone plus the car buying public would get a better version of the model if they simply kept the body style the same.

Look at Checker cars which are used for TAXIS.

THEY lasted and ran forever!!!! They were made the same year after year.

When you have a great mechanical vehicle, why do we keep tinkering and changing the sheet metal and chassis??

I suppose I just don;t get it but believe we could dramatically lower the price of a new car by following this simple model.......

WHat do you think?

Anyone want to start a car company with me???
