That said, I am far from being the biggest opponent of Ted Cruz you could find. In fact, I am rather happy to see that the graphic I constructed last July reveals that three of the four surviving Republicans are on my "not-yet-ruled-out" list. Moreover, I think we're going to see Little Marco departing in about six days, at which point there will be nobody I really despise left in the G.O.P. field.

BTW, Mark Everson was [rather laughably] left in the graphic simply because I knew nothing about him. That's still the case, but he's departed voluntarily so that I don't have to bother going to the trouble of figuring out what it is about this former I.R.S. commissioner that makes him unworthy. (Somehow, I don't think it would have been difficult.)

Cruz would be my #3 G.O.P. pick among the gaggle of candidates. If he wasn't a stooge for Goldman, he'd be my #2 choice. (Rand Paul was my #1.)

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

micro,

re: "Guilt by association??? That's really surprising to me you don;t have anything better than that. Not typical."

Two can play at that game. Are you REALLY so naive as to think that of all the millions of possible employers on the planet, Ted Cruz's wife is employed by the MOST VILE, MOST CORRUPT, MOST INFLUENCE-PEDDLING, GOVERNMENT-INVOLVED bankster of them all by pure coincidence? (Well, in the U.S. anyway.) Moreover, that his wife was (until she put her job on hiatus due to the need to participate in this campaign) a very high ranking official with said scummy-company?

We aren't talking about a mere teller, micro. Heidi Cruz is in charge of the GS Houston office that manages portfolios averaging $40 million, totaling some-umpteen billion dollars. She and Ted met when they were both working on George W's 2000 election campaign. Still think they're Republican party outsiders?

Here's an article excerpt that might serve as a reminder of how and why bankers connect to the White House. The article is actually about all the investment bankers who influence the Obama administration, but . . .

All this brings back memories of Hank Paulson, doesn’t it? Hank Paulson, the $700 million man who became secretary of the treasury for President Bush. Paulson had been head of Goldman Sachs, the rich investment bank. As his successor at Goldman Sachs, Paulson chose Lloyd Blankfein. Several times, according to Bloomberg News, Rolling Stone, and Paulson’s own memoir, the treasury secretary made sure Blankfein and Goldman got privileged inside information.

Ted Cruz's wife and job are no coincidence. He's where he is because Goldman Sachs wanted him there. They lent him a lot of money. He didn't report it, but paid it back once was discovered... and undoubtedly BECAUSE it was discovered. The last thing we need is a President who is under the thumb of the worst of the bankers. (Okay, second worst. Credit Suisse is actually at the VERY top of the list.)
