One thing I need to clarify: The WATCH (Washington Area Theatre Community Honors) award winner I referred to is currently acting in Mary Poppins. But he won the award for his 2015 performance in a different musical, Chess.

I didn't intend to make it sound as if he'd won for his Mary Poppins performance, but upon re-reading it, I think it would be hard to not get that impression.

It will be a year before the next set of WATCH nominations are announced. My fingers will be crossed that Mary Poppins gets a few. It's an excellent show and it received great reviews so I think there's a chance.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

micro,

re: "She played the piano and keyboards for the show choir for four years."

Funny you should bring that up. The video I posted was of the school's VOCAL JAZZ choir. But the school has seven different choirs - one of which, as at your daughter's school, is called the SHOW choir. Although Joey isn't in the show choir, they recruited him to play piano for it.

The teacher mentions at the start of the video that she has a surprise for everyone. The surprise is that the girls have new dresses. Hot pink and sequined. The video doesn't do 'em justice. Under the lights, they're very, very, VERY pink! They look great - though the liberal women in the audience were horrified by them for some reason.

re: "who actually performed live on the Stage at the Grand old oprey house"

Another interesting coincidence. The school's choirs are going to Nashville either this month or next for their annual field trip. Joey went on the trip to NYC last year and declined to go on this one. His choir teacher was horrified and said she needs him to go. She then made him an offer he couldn't refuse - not only waiving the fee, but paying him for going. Sooo, he'll be visiting Nashville for the first time in just a few weeks. I'll let you know when they get back what-all they did.

I don't think they're going to do anything as exciting as playing on the Grnad Ol Oprey's stage, but they ARE going to cut a record. And that's why the teacher needed him to go.

re: "Congrats on having a wonderfully talented young man like that as your son!"

Thank you very much. And the same to you, with regard to your daughter.

This is week four - the FINAL week - of Mary Poppins. I just checked, and the three final shows have only ten seats left. It's a shame they can't extend its run since it's bringing in $7,500 per show which is a lot for a small theatre company, but I guess the schedule is unyielding. So it's all over on Saturday, and they'll be on to other things.

It was announced Monday that the actor playing George Banks (the father) won the 2015 WATCH award for Best Actor. It's a big deal in the Washington DC area. Theatre is huge here. It'll be sad to see the show end, but Joey already has the score for LEGALLY BLONDE, the musical his school is performing in April. One project ends and another begins. Legally Blonde doesn't pay, though, and I'm not very fond of the music.

Crying or Very sad
