O will nominate the longtime director of Baltimore's public library system as the new head of the Library of Congress, the White House said Wednesday.
Carla Hayden, a Roland Park resident who has worked as CEO of the Enoch Pratt Free Library since 1993, would be the first woman and the first African American to serve in the position in the institution's 214-year history.
