I found out about this a couple of days ago and have already turned off automatic updates. I set my home system to let me choose the updates I want.

VERY scummy of Microsoft. I called my sister who isn't at all PC savvy and told her that when this happens to her system, she will no longer know how to use her computer. What's more, some of the applications that work for her under Windows 7 will probably break.

Ain't Microsoft wonderful?

Once more, for anyone who isn't following: MICROSOFT HAS CHANGED WINDOWS 10 TO BE AN AUTOMATIC UPDATE FOR WINDOWS 7 and 8 USERS. IF YOU DON'T DISABLE IT, YOU WILL BE RUNNING 10 IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

I wouldn't have known about this if it weren't for two different posters on GLP the past couple of days.

Their threads allowed me to clear out 267 files that Microsoft has sneaked onto my computer.

I forwarded this info to my neighbor (who is pretty computer-savvy) and HE didn't know about this until I told him.

His computer/Internet has been slow and he discovered that Microsoft has already installed 5 GB onto his computer!

For people on limited plans (such as my sister who only gets 2 GB per month without paying extra) this is significant.

I want to thank the two OP's for this information and suggest that everyone run this NOW.

In fact, after I post their links I am going to pin this.

I think it's VERY important to stop this virus DEAD in it's tracks.

Thanks again to these two. You just saved 3 people (myself and two other people who are dear to me) a LOT of future pain.
