I'd be happy as crap if we'd stop fussing so much about terrorism. After all, we're spending TRILLIONS fighting something that has no clear game plan and has killed 5,000 and injured 22,000 people in the U.S. SINCE ABRAHAM LINCOLN.
I'm getting my numbers here: http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/terrorism/wrjp255a.html
I'll admit that the numbers are a little low because foreign attacks on Americans aren't included, but I don't think their inclusion would change my conclusion at all.
Here's my point. We've spent something like $400 million per American killed in a terrorist attack. Probably more since I'm just guessing that we've spent $2 trillion, and I know it's more than that. The Iraq war alone was $1.7 trillion.
$400 million is way, way, WAY too much.
And there's no winning it anyway since the targets are ever changing. We may as well call it "the war on evil" or "the war on people we don't like."
