The trouble is, it still takes more money to produce a solar panel than you get out of it in electricity.
It's as simple as that.
Solar is great for some things - charging batteries in remote locations, for instance. Or heating water, especially if you live in the sunbelt. But it's still a loser as a means of generating electricity.

...Jimmy Carter is a prez I almost never agreed with, but he once said that the problem with solar is that the oil industry hasn't found a way to make ya pay for sunshine. Makes ya think a bit.
