re: "..anytime that anything, anything at all, doesn't lead to some kind of tax increase I am amazed."

Speaking of amazed, I just discovered Shopko.com.

I was looking for a DVD recorder to replace my old one which is on the fritz. Much to my chagrin, I couldn't find many and nearly all of them are VCR/DVD recorder combos. I don't have a need for a VCR unless my wife finds our wedding video, but I guess it doesn't hurt anything if it doesn't jack the price up too much.

On the low end, I found a FUNAI ZV427FX4 that users reviewed positively. Wal-mart has it for $225. Amazon has it for $199. Shopko, which I wasn't familiar with, has it for $169. Pretty good!

Then I noticed that the site offers coupons, so I delayed my purchase and signed up. Three hours later, my mailbox had a $10 off coupon on my first purchase of $50. That's even better.

Since it's over $99, shipping is free. Great! (Shipping would have been only $5 on an order over $50.)

And, in a totally unexpected move, I wasn't charged any tax.

Okay, I'm sold. I placed my order and promptly received another $10 off coupon.

If everything at Shopko goes this well, I'll be buying from them a lot more.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

...anytime that anything, anything at all, doesn't lead to some kind of tax increase I am amazed. There is no problem out there so serious that a tax increase won't fix it.
