Yep, I've noticed that. I've told my son that if he orders water instead of a soda when we eat out, I'll pay him the price of the soda. I figure it's a win/win/win. I get him to drink less soda / I don't have to tip based on the price of the drink / He makes a little money.

The only time I buy drinks anymore is at fast food joints. If I'm eating in, I'll get a value soda (usually $1.19) and have a lot of refills. If it's to go and I'm at McDonalds, I get a $1.00 iced tea. It's huge, as good as a soda, and less expensive than even their smallest.
