...the reason I would reduce the power of the pres is so's I could spread the blame around if I screwed the pooch and also to keep another obama from trying to be king of the country.

...I think Presidential Proclamations should be sent off to congress to be voted on. It they don't pass, they go in the crapper.

...cruz? I dunno about him. Sometimes I think he is alright and sometimes I think not. IMHO, we are not getting the BEST people to run for public office anymore.

ribit,

re: "the first thing the next president should do is force congress to have a constitutional convention to restrict the power of the presidency. It was never intended that the president be a king to rule with a pen and a phone."

I agree.

The only problem is . . . Ron Paul is the only politician I can remember who, if he'd been President, might have gone along with weakening his own power. Before him . . . Eisenhower. And before IKE, you'd have to go all the way back to George W. The FIRST George W.

I sure don't see Trump, Hillary or Sanders giving up power. Maybe Cruz. *MAYBE* Half the time I like Cruz. Half the time I think he's another POS in the pocket of the powers that be. Oh well. At least he's the best POS with an actual chance of winning. And I'm not sure I'm right to distrust him. There's a lot to like about Cruz.
