You're referring to the Luby's massacre. The woman didn't forget her gun. She was forbidden by law from bringing her gun with her into the restaurant. She therefore hid under a table and witnessed the assassination of her own parents, knowing through the whole thing that her firearm was sitting 50 yards away in the parking lot.

Suzanna Hupp went on to run for the Texas state legislature principally to promise to repeal the anti-gun law. She won and successfully changed the law.

ribit, about 30 years ago when
there was a mass shooting in a
café close to Austin, one woman
said her biggest regret was that
she had forgotten to put her gun
in her purse.
