Icyboards CAN, in fact, list messages in the order we like! Rather than explain it in detail, I'm linking to what I just posted to the Icyboards forum.
It's still going to take getting used to. You have to wrap your head around the following:
Each thread over there is the equivalent of a board here. Right now, I've created a thread there called "Eureka! I found 'NEWEST FIRST' listings!" It is the equivalent of POPE IV.
If we all post to it, we can read the messages in NEWEST FIRST order simply by doing a NEW REPLY and scrolling down to below the input area. The messages are all there in the order we like.
But that's a big if, and we probably won't contain ourselves to a single thread. In that case, you can no more read all the messages in NEWEST FIRST order than you can here. After all, on Atomic Bobs, messages are posted to POPE IV, and ALEA, and FART3. You have to go to each "thread" on its own to read its messages in Newest First order.
Keep that in mind and suddenly http://pope4test.icyboards.net is a lot easier to use than we thought.
In the last few weeks, I've played with the Icyboards forum a lot. Maybe that's what it takes, and I can understand if some of you get annoyed. After all, there are still many things I haven't figured out, but I'm getting to enjoy it. It can do some REALLY neat things, way beyond what either AtomicBobs.com or runboards.com can do. And, unlike POPE IV, it's recently attracted a new member. Only one, but hey - it's a start.
snapits began tinkering with it today. He's a bit crotchety, but I think he'll get the hang of it.
