Fifty years ago, Erich Leinsdorf of the Boston Symphony Orchestra broke the news to his audience that the President of the United States had been assassinated. Hear that announcement, and the presumably-bipartisan audience's collective gasp of horor, at the link below.

One thought that crossed my mind was how different the reaction would be if the same announcement were made today. It would be the difference between night and day. Many would be celebratory. Some would conclude that God Himself had interceded to save our nation.

Wow. So very different.
