Very interesting - and starts me to thinking about 'cause and effect'.

Several questions arise - such as, does such thinking about 'swing state' importance, and placement of priorities on ONLY those states - beg the question of 'what would really happen' if monies were spent in other states - not just piddling amounts - but significant amounts.

It is quite possible that this 'polarization' of spending actually increases the polarization of the country - because there is no 'cross-pollinating', no exposing of those in 'solid' states to other ideas on how things can be.

A lot of cogitatin' creatin contracting of the ole grey matter muscles being stimulated by such an obvious source of potential mischief.

Very interesting discussion of the electoral map.

As anyone who has read this blog knows, the presidential election tomorrow is national in name only. Yes, voters in all 50 states will cast ballots but what really matters is who voters in seven to nine swing states choose as their preferred president.

The two presidential campaign as well as the many and varied super PACs and other outside groups know that, of course, and spent their campaign dollars accordingly.

This two-minute video from the good folks at NPR [cough, cough] is the best visual representation we have seen of how the campaign — as viewed through the lens of where both sides are spending their dough — creates a very different U.S. map than we are used to seeing.

It’s just terrific stuff.
