LOL - Yeah - a 300'+ 'hand pump' would be a bit of a bear. That's what cheater bars are for, eh ?

What I had in mind when mentioning 'mechanical pumps' was more on this order (although, in reality, ALL pumps are 'mechanical' - except for jet stream type pumps) Electric pumps vs. the 'guts' of a 'hand pump' - a 'cylinder'.

I looked into manual deep well pumps. They're out there, but my well guys said the weight of the column of water would make 'em really difficult to use.
