We lived in Conn. we'd drive down to Palisades at least once every summer. Rest of the time we'd take the bus to Savin Rock in New Haven.

Everytime we took the train to NYC we'd have lunch at the Automat.

Oh man, I'm all weepy with nostalgia for the long-gone amusement parks--Palisades and Olympic--of my yoot in 'Jersey. Olympic had an amazing old wooden roller-coaster; Palisades had the Cyclone; both had humongous swimming pools. If they were still there today, the drug gangs would own 'em...especially Olympic where the Irvington neighborhood is particularly bad.

Did you know that Chuck Barris (of Gong Show fame) wrote Freddy (Boom Boom) Cannon's 1962 hit tune?
